When an Oscar-winning movie star meets a department-store photographer…
Movie star Nic Lamoureux appears to have a playboy’s perfect life. But it’s a part he plays, an act designed to conceal a dark secret he carries on his shoulders. His empty days and nights are a meaningless blur until he meets the woman who fulfills all his dreams. She and her son are the family he’s always wanted—if she can forgive a horrible mistake from his past.
A Hollywood dream…
Lauren James, a widowed single mother, earns barely enough money to support herself and her son. When she wins a photography contest and meets Nic, the man who stars in all her fantasies, her dreams, both professional and personal, are on the verge of becoming real. The attraction between Lauren and Nic is instant—and mutual. Their chemistry burns out of control during a photo shoot that could put Lauren on the fast track to a lucrative career.
Becomes a Hollywood nightmare
But an ill-advised kiss makes front-page news, and the lurid headlines threaten everything Nic and Lauren have hoped for. Before they know what’s happening, their relationship is further rocked by an obsessed and cunning stalker who’ll stop at nothing—not even murder—to have Nic to herself. When Nic falls for Lauren, the stalker zeroes in on her as the competition.
And the competition must be eliminated.

I'm happy to announce the publication of my new cozy mystery novel, Private Deception, available on Kindle and in paperback!
About Private Deception :
Sassy private investigator Jade O’Reilly thinks she’s hit rock bottom when, in the midst of obtaining photos of a cheating spouse in a second-story apartment, she falls off a swing set to the feet of an attractive mystery man. But the next day, when Jade discovers the man’s identity—he’s a detective with the local Sweetwater, NC, police—she learns that the cheating spouse was murdered and Jade herself is a suspect. Rock bottom just got a new definition.
Private Deception is the first novel in the Jade O’Reilly Mystery series by Amazon Bestselling Mystery and Romantic Suspense Author Tamara Ward. The novel’s prequel, the short story Jade O’Reilly and the Ice Queen, joins Jade O’Reilly and the Mysterious Musician, a short story that follows Jade on an adventure after this novel. In all three, action and light romance combine with engaging characters and humor for page-turning whodunits set in the fictional coastal town of Sweetwater, NC.

It's party time!
I’ve got the pleasure of participating in a group book launch party today through Saturday, Aug. 18! The Beach Book Blast Summer Launch Event features almost 20 new releases and even more writers. Visit the Beach Book Blast for more details. At the site, you can enter for the chance to win a Kindle Fire and find a book that’s perfect for your end-of-summer reading!
As part of the launch event, and since I enjoy solved mysteries, I asked my fellow writers a question:
What real-world mystery (i.e. Bigfoot, or washing machines eating socks, etc.) would you like solved and why?
I got some amazing responses as varied as the authors and books featured in the Beach Book Blast itself. Here they are:
It would be cool if D.B Cooper actually ran a convenience store somewhere now.
Oh there are so many! I worked in molecular biology for WAY too long which is all mystery hunting and most of mine are still medical related. In day to day stuff it would have to be how the heck MS Word could end up being the standard word processing program and still work as wonky as it does. Maybe that is just a writer thing?
The mystery lovers in my family are the kids…so I let my daughter take this ‘wish’. Her first choice—she would want to know if Chupacabra’s are real. Funny thing was, it was the one thing that popped into my mind, too. That’d be one less Monster Quest question to deal with.

Before I was born, my grandfather's brother moved from Malta to England. My family and he stayed in touch for years, corresponding via letters. When I was born, they sent him pictures; he really loved me and asked after me very often.
Then one day, the letters stopped. My family searched for him. My dad even went to England, to the man's old address, and asked questions. He couldn't find any records of him - except that he moved one time, then the trail went cold. My dad searched the death records - nothing.
What really happened to my great-uncle? This is one mystery I would love to solve, but doubt I ever will.

One year for Christmas when my son was about four he got a Fisher Price baseball glove and ball. They were soft versions for little guys. We saw the ball for about five minutes then it disappeared. Of course, my son cried because he wanted the ball. I tore the house apart and went through all the wrapping paper. We never found it. Where that ball went is the unsolved mystery in our house. We have concluded that it is buried in Giants Stadium with Jimmy Hoffa.

I have always been fascinated with Lizzie Borden. I've watched the movies, read books, wondered about the various theories out there. It would be amazing if the murder could be solved without question.
I’d like to solve the mystery of dust bunnies. How do they get out the message so they know where to congregate next? And when they gather, what kind of evil house-dirtying plans are they making?
Roy: Who was Jack the Ripper? His story is intriguing because he was the first nightmare-come-to-life superstar-serial killer. His gory headlines captured the attention of the world. I might add that I would like to have pumped ten rounds into his skullcap in return for his horrific contributions.
Alicia: I’m intrigued by ancient artifacts and always want to know who used these tools or who wrote the cuneiform tablet. I love digging through academic journals to discover things about the lives of people who lived so many thousands of years ago.

So I'm proudly announcing my brother's first book, Scribbleball! If you can't tell from the cover, the book is for children. Both my 3- and 6-year-olds stared at the various pages for quite a while. Here's the book blurb:
"AAAAA...Bing! Bang! Boom! Boing! . . . CRASH! Poor, little Scribbleball just can't get a break. He's being flung and spun in this delightful, action-packed, onomatopoeia alphabet adventure. Join Scribbleball on his colorful journey as he experiences hysterical encounters with tropical terrain, weather, and wildlife."
Available only in paperback for $9.99, here's a link to where you can purchase your very own copy: https://www.createspace.com/3546136.
My brother, who is big on storytelling, also created a trailer for the book, which is a lot of fun to watch and listen to. Really, this video will make you smile. You can hear my bro's voice in the background of the trailer. Go, Scott... I mean, Scooter!
