But there's another great deal I need to let you know about! Tales from the Mist is being offered for $0.99 through the end of the month, along with a number of other books in the Indie Book Festival.

More about Tales from the Mist:

A team of authors compiled an anthology, Tales from the Mist, that will take you on a journey into the dark world of the paranormal. These twelve stories vary in their degree of horror, yet all reach across the boundaries of their genres into the chilling realms of the macabre. Witches, ghosts, shape-shifters and vampire rats are some of the creatures that reign within these pages. Authors included are: Scott Nicholson, Rhonda Hopkins, Marty Young, Cate Dean, Tamara Ward, Meredith Bond, Catie Rhodes, Greg Carrico, Mitzi Flyte, Natalie G. Owens, *lizzie starr and Stacey Joy Netzel.

My short story Jade O'Reilly and the Graveyard Shift is included in the anthology. In the story, private investigator Jade O'Reilly finds herself on security-guard duty at a supposedly haunted historic mansion on Halloween night. She doesn't believe in the rumors that say the house is cursed; she doesn't believe in ghosts. Will she by the end of her shift?

"To have a collection assembled by such a talented group of authors makes this THE anthology to own if you are a fan of horror."
-TW Brown, author of Dead: The Ugly Beginning

Merry Christmas

Sometimes, contemplating the history of the world, all the awful things we humans do to each other and in such magnitude, the horror of the evils us humans can and do accomplish - the atrocities we've done at our own hands or allowed to add up staggeringly by turning our backs - the evils astound me. In the wake of the recent tragedy, I find myself asking the same questions. How? Why?

But just as I know I'll never find an answer that allows me to fully comprehend God's reasons for allowing the recent tragedy, at least not on this side of heaven, I know that God holds us all in His hands. And that is why, perhaps not with a whole heart, but with the firmest of foundations within its chambers, I can wish you a Merry Christmas.

I know it's not a Christmas hymn, but here are some words from one of my husband's favorite hymns that resound with me now. They're from "This is My Father's World" and in the third verse.

"This is my Father's world, O let me ne'er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father's world: The battle is not done;
Jesus who died shall be satisfied, And earth and heav'n be one."

The battle is not done, but the battle is the Lord's. And one day, God's kingdom will fully come.

Merry Christmas.

New Christmas mystery

Just in time for Christmas, I've published the latest Jade O'Reilly adventure!

Jade O'Reilly and the 12 Days of Christmas
is an ebook available for $0.99 at AmazonB&NSmashwords, and Kobo.

Private investigator Jade O’Reilly thought her worst Christmas dilemma involved finding the perfect gift for her significant other. That was before she agreed to help Agnes Sturgis, the crankiest old biddy in all of Sweetwater, NC. Every day, for the twelve days leading up to Christmas, Agnes wakes up to a yard filled with Christmas decorations. But in Agnes’s opinion, “they’re not decorations; they’re property damage!”

Finding the person responsible for the scenes of yuletide merriment that Agnes demolishes every morning is not easy. With stealth and skill that rival Santa’s elves, the decorator strikes Agnes’s yard and eludes Jade and her surveillance equipment. Will Jade catch the decorator before Christmas morning?

This Sweetwater Short story is about 50 pages in length.

Thanks for Great Books Blog Hop

This post is part of the Beach Book Blast Nov. 25-26 Thanks for Great Books Blog Hop and Fall Ebook Release Event! Nine authors are showcasing our new books at the Beach Book Blast website and at our sister site at the RG2E. We've got something for everyone—from Romantic Suspense, to a sweet Holiday romance, to a YA Dystopian and a few mysteries. To make the event even more fun, we’ve added prizes (a larger one at the Beach Book Blast site and smaller ones at some of the authors’ sites) and a blog hop where readers can connect to their favorite authors and learn what great books, characters, or authors have inspired them.

So what has inspired me as an author?

I’m always inspired by and thankful for books that completely envelop me in their realities. I know I’m reading a fantastic book when my husband or children are talking to me and I don’t hear their voices. Only when they repeat my name multiple times (“Mom, mom, MOM!”) do I realize that the real world is calling.

Different books have fully captivated me. Whether it’s a fun, light romance by Alicia and Roy Street or a consuming, heavy read like When Crickets Cry by Charles Martin, I’m thankful for these books that whisk me away into their own worlds within the pages.

Here’s a peek at my new release in the Beach Book Blast event: Silver Flashing

Newspaper reporter Jonie Waters thinks the story she’s covering is bizarre. Even so, she’s not prepared for the shock of finding a corpse in a trunk beneath the floorboards of a house. She dashes from the grim discovery and calls the police. But by the time alluring detective Daniel Wyeth arrives on the scene and reenters the house, the trunk and its contents are missing!

With the police and her newspaper coworkers questioning her credibility, Jonie makes tracking down the body her mission. She won’t let anything get in her way, not even distractions that include covering a series of newspaper articles with her old flame, interacting with her dysfunctional family, intercepting a mugging, and surviving a round of mud wrestling.

Silver Flashing is the second novel in the Jonie Waters Mystery series by Amazon bestselling mystery author Tamara Ward. Action and light romance combine with engaging characters and humor for a page-turning whodunit set in Wilmington, NC.

Frolick in Edinburgh meadows in Salisbury's new release

Jamie Salisbury, a writing friend of mine, just released her newest book, a contemporary romantic suspense novel that takes readers frolicking through the Edinburgh meadows with a rock star and his wife!

About Tudor Rubato, the novel:

Having survived a near-death experience all Amadeus Tudor wants to do is escape to the countryside of Scotland with his wife Zara so the two can have some much needed down time together as a couple and work on rebuilding their relationship. Life for the past couple of years, however has been “a long, strange trip (it’s been)” for the internationally acclaimed rock star, with no signs of stopping.

But before the couple can even get away, tragedy hits close to home forcing the couple into almost delaying their new adventure. Grace Tudor, the family matriarch insists the two embark on their new adventure and recommitting to each other immediately.

The change of scenery proves exactly what Amadeus needs to reboot his songwriting and his all encompassing bond with Zara. Together they embrace their new adventure as slowly Amadeus, with the guidance of music icon, Peter McNichol embarks on what promises to be another notch in Amadus’ career.

The road is full of twists and turns for the pair as one moment finds them frolicking in the meadows outside Edinburgh to the next learning the shocking and sinister side of one of Amadeus’ own brothers.

About the author:
Jamie Salisbury cannot imagine a time when she did not write. A skill that has served her well throughout her diversified professional career that encompassed public relations in and around the entertainment industry, photography, editing, and special event planning.

An avid reader of history, biographies, and romance it's only natural that she prefers to write  romances with characters said to be "so authentic they spring forth from the page and shake the reader's hand." No stranger to life threatening situations Jamie pulls from life experience when she creates her stories. Such as when her family had to escape Chile when she was a teen because of the unstable political climate.

Finding herself unable to walk great distances  as a result of  several foot surgeries, she started writing once again as a way to pass the time. With the completion of her first novel Perpetual Love she dove head first into the eBook and digital publishing paradigm. She couldn't be happier with her decision to grab the publishing industry by the shoulders and force it to pay attention to all she has to offer.

Here's an excerpt from Jamie's newest release, Tudor Rubato:

I closed the front door and found Amadeus back in the kitchen helping himself to a huge slice of the blackcurrant pie. He certainly had no problem finding the plates and forks.

“Amadeus! I was going to warm the pasties so we could eat first.”

“But I’m starving.”

“So am I. Put it down. I’ll heat up these pasties so we can eat. Why don’t you open the bottle of wine. And put that pie down!”

“Mmm, okay,” he mumbled as he crammed his mouth full of pie.

I walked over and snatched the plate out of his hand, knowing full well he would eat the entire piece while we waited for the main course. Fortunately for us, the pasties were still fairly warm and I popped them into the microwave for a minute just to make them hot.

I found a corkscrew in a drawer and tossed it to him as I looked for a couple of wine glasses. I took two out of the cabinet and walked them over to him. As I laid them down, the buzzer on the microwave beeped letting me know the pasties were ready. I plated them, grabbed a couple of forks and walked over to the kitchen table situated along a cheerful large window. Amadeus quickly followed and placed a glass next to me as he sat down across the table.

The food was good, and we were both hungrier than we thought. We devoured all four of the pasties before Amadeus was back at his slice of pie. My mind was still spinning with the events of the day. It had been quite a long day for that matter, but I was too keyed up for sleep.

Instead I got up, gathered the dishes and put them in the dishwasher before I walked back over to where Amadeus sat, still at the kitchen table. I began to massage his neck and shoulders.

“How does that feel?”

Welcome, reading weather!

As part of the Autumn's Harvest Blog Hop, you've got a chance to win a number of great prizes by commenting with your email address to this blog post!

But first I'm thinking about the top 10 reasons I love autumn!

10. Leaves! On the trees, the symphony of color always brings a smile to my face.
9. It's hot cocoa time!
8. And don't forget the marshmallows.
7. More leaves! The wind blows through the trees, and the leaves swirl to the ground in a sudden leaf shower.
6. I can drink more hot cocoa (extra marshmallows, please, and a few cookies, too) and gain a few pounds... but then I can claim I need the padding to deal with the chilly weather.
5. My mother's cheesy green bean casserole she only makes on Thanksgiving and Christmas, but for some reason never on Easter. What gives?
4. Crunch! The sound dried leaves make when I step on them. Crunch! Crunch!
3. Daylight saving time ends and we all gain an extra hour of sleep!
2. Even more leaves! My husband and sons corral the fallen leaves into one pile and then throw them over the back fence, allowing me hours of quiet time to do the number one top reason I love the season, which is...
1. Something about the cold snap in the weather has me curling up under a warm, fuzzy blanket with a good book!

And speaking about good books...
